Bamala Groundnut (Xylopia parviflora)

Bambala Groundnut, also known as Pear Spice for Achu, Striped African Pepper. It is well known as spice sold in the Cameroonian markets as a spice that is added to traditional soups to give it an aromatic flavor.

What Cameroonians call bush pepper is globally known as black pepper. Black pepper is one of the most commonly used spices worldwide. It’s made by grinding dried berries from the vine Piper nigrum. The difference between bush pepper and black pepper is that bush pepper is unprocessed black pepper. It has a sharp and mildly spicy flavor that goes well with many dishes.
